"You do." Her voice was calm. Neither cold nor forgiving. Simply... waiting. And for the first time... Aksh didn't look away. Aksh held her gaze. Barely. "You were right that day." The admission came quietly. "I wasn't asking for forgiveness." A faint, tired smile crossed his face. "I was asking whether I still belonged."
His fingers curled unconsciously. "And because I wasn't sure of the answer... I started pushing you away. I thought..." He laughed softly at himself. "...it would hurt less if I had to leave. I was already getting attached. And I got scared." Aaradhya remained silent. Not because she had nothing to say, but because she knew interrupting him now would only make him retreat again.
